Summer House star Danielle Olivera says that fans can expect lots of surprises during the show’s upcoming season-eight reunion—in addition to her newly toned and defined arms. Olivera is the latest Bravoleb to undergo AirSculpt, a minimally invasive form of liposuction. We sat down with the reality star to chat about what the procedure was like and how it’s changed her self-confidence as well as to get some inside scoop on the reunion.
RealSelf: You’re on a television show that films in the summer, when you’re often wearing a bathing suit or revealing outfit. How has that impacted your body image and self-esteem?
Danielle Olivera: I started the show when I was in my mid to late 20s, and I certainly don’t have the same body that I once did. When you watch yourself on TV, you start picking yourself apart. And as much as you want to be the most confident and say it doesn’t matter what you look like, you always see yourself under a microscope. I became harsher and harsher on myself over the years because time does take a toll. You compare yourself to other castmates, some who are 10 years younger than I am—and it’s not that I want to be the same size as them, but there are things you can do to feel more confident. If there’s something I want to change on my body to be my most confident self, then I’m going to do it and not be ashamed.
RS: You decided to get AirSculpt on your arms. What was it about your arms that bothered you?
DO: My arms were definitely more of a psychological issue for me than anything. It’s not something people would point out or that anyone would notice. But anytime I look in a mirror or try on an outfit, the first thing I think about it is how my arms look. I was a three-sport athlete growing up, and [I felt] they were always bigger than those of an average female, especially compared to the rest of my body. I did Pilates and was eating better, and I even hired a personal trainer to focus on my arms—and they toned great, but they were still bigger.

RS: What intrigued you about AirSculpt?
DO: I’ve never done something like this before, but even the initial consult really put me at ease. It was the timing of the entire procedure, that it was short and I was going to be awake the entire time. I watch a lot of true crime and know that anything can go wrong when you go under. And then, of course, I had to run it by mom, and she was like, “Okay, you’re going to be awake and it’s fast and you’re not cut open,” so she was on board too.
RS: Tell us what the procedure and recovery was like.
DO: I had the best experience. I actually told a lot of my friends that it was fun, which they said was weird. The office was gorgeous, and everyone was inviting and approachable. I didn’t have anyone with me, but I talked to the doctor the entire time. We were listening to Taylor Swift and I was telling him about filming Summer House, and before I knew it, we were done. I even took myself out to dinner that night. I flew back [to New York] the next day. I only had some slight discomfort, but it was never painful. The worst part was taking a shower and then putting the compression garment back on. But I was back to my normal routine quickly.
RS: So how are you feeling about the results?
DO: Even immediately after, anytime I got a chance to check out my arms, like when taking a shower, I was like, “Wow, they’re so different,” and it’s only improved from there. Now, instead of being critical of myself, I love looking at my arms in the mirror. We also filmed the Summer House reunion two weeks after I had the procedure. And that’s always a lot. It’s not only a very tense room, but you also want to look and feel your best. And the feeling of not having to worry about how my arms would look once the cameras were up was the best. It was the boost of confidence I needed to get through. They just sent us the reunion episodes, and I’m so happy with how my arms looked.

RS: Speaking of the reunion, did you share your experience with any of your castmates? What was their reaction?
DO: I’ve been telling anyone who will listen because I’m so impressed with AirSculpt. Everyone has been totally on board and like, “Yes, you go girl, it looks amazing,” because they know this was an insecurity of mine. And Lindsay, Gabby, I think the girls are like, “Wait, should I get it too?”
RS: Okay, we have to ask—any reunion spoilers or news about filming next season you can share?
There are going to be a lot of surprises, and it’s way more than just the Lindsay and Carl of it all. With Ciara and West, there was a lot more happening post-filming, and it gets emotional. Paige and I get into it. There are a lot of surprises and emotion and, ultimately resolution. We normally don’t film until July, but we did know before filming the reunion that we’d be back for another season. I’m definitely going to be feeling more confident and wearing even more revealing outfits!
