Dr. Anire Okpaku

Dr. Anire Okpaku, M.D. is a Marine Corps veteran, jiu-jitsu world champion, and double board-certified plastic surgeon, certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Okpaku maintains affiliations as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a diplomat for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. His experience and his pedigree make him a highly respected physician in the field.

He has displayed a passion for his patients’ education and well-being by providing them with useful, actionable advice for what to do pre- and post-operation to ensure the best possible outcomes. For example, he advises his patients to go for long walks every day in the weeks leading up to and following their surgery to facilitate healthy blood flow. He has also suggested that patients shower with antibacterial soap rather than body wash before their procedure as an extra defense against infections. These sorts of tips exemplify his commitment to patient education and safety.

After earning his MD from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Okpaku completed a General Surgery Residency at the University of Miami and a Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Residency at the University of Texas. He worked in South Florida for a number of years, mainly in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, and has recently relocated to Austin, Texas, where he is currently based.

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Okpaku leads an active lifestyle. His background as a Marine and an athlete has made him disciplined and energetic about his physical fitness. He still practices martial arts and tries to work out most days.
