Are Fat Transfers Really That Safe? 

To obtain a modest increase in breast size and natural results, it would be wide to consider undergoing a natural breast augmentation. Fat Transfer Results

After undergoing a breast augmentation fat transfer, you can expect a noticeable enhancement. The breasts will be slightly swollen after surgery and enlarged with the injected fat.

Surgeons tend to 'overfill' the breasts with fat (50% to 65% of the fat is expected to survive after 2-3 months) to ensure your desired results.

Fat transfers tend to create minimal scarring due to too small injection sites formed by incisions. One of the added benefits of this procedure is that you're essentially sculpting two body parts: one where fat is extracted and slimmed down, and the other is the breasts that are augmented.

Pre-Expansion

Some surgeons will recommend that you undergo a pre-expansion phase for several weeks before the surgery. It consists of wearing a bra-like device that uses negative pressure to pull at the breasts, causing them to expand. 

This allows the breasts to have extra room to prepare for the surgery to inject transferred fat into them. Here at Elite, we do not recommend such measures.

Are Fat Transfers Safe?

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons does note a few minor fat transfer risks for breast augmentation:

1. Cysts
2. Infections
3. Calcification
4. Necrosis
5. Fat cells leaving the breast area

It's also important to note that fat transfer can be coupled with other breast enhancement techniques such as a breast lift. While providing significant results, these more invasive surgical techniques are prone to unwanted risks and medical complications.
