Lower Back Liposuction Recovery: What to Expect

You're not alone if you're having trouble losing fat on your lower back.
Lower back fat tends to linger around because many of us are genetically inclined to keep the fat in that area as an energy source.
But now that modern lifestyles do not require having a surplus energy source to survive, lower back fat is just a hassle that we want to remove as quickly as possible.
The Benefits of Lower Back Liposuction
Liposuction is a procedure designed to target excess fat within a given area. If your lower back has become misshapen due to the surge of unwanted fat, you'll be able to contour your shape and achieve a slimmer physique thanks to liposuction.
Other conditions, such as aging and weight gain, can also cause excess back fat in addition to genetics. Therefore, before pursuing any procedure, ensure that you fully understand why lower back fat is present in the first place.
How Is Lower Back Liposuction Performed?
Liposuction generally follows the same pattern and technique. A thin tube called a cannula removes the unwanted fat through an opening made by an incision near the layer of fat on the lower back.
The surgeon moves the cannula back and forth to break up the fat cells and then removes them with the cannula's suction feature.
The procedure requires general anesthesia, especially if a substantial amount of fat is removed from the body.
The Recovery Process
During lower back liposuction recovery, you must be aware that each person has a different pain threshold. These procedures themselves are not designed to be painful but do not feel alarmed if you feel moderate pain within the first 24 hours.
You should be able to return to work after about seven days. Procedures where a significant amount of fat was removed may require up to two weeks off.
If your work is physically demanding, ask your physician to get a precise estimate as to when you should return, given that you'll be wearing a compression garment for about two weeks and need to avoid heavy lifting.
