Fat Removal
Will I Be Able to Walk After Leg Liposuction?
In today's fast-paced lifestyle, patients naturally ask how quickly they can recover from cosmetic surgery. Fortunately, thanks to incredible advances in medicine and technology, recovery is faster and more comfortable. However, it is essential that patients have realistic expectations of the post-operative period and that their bodies have enough time to heal to ensure a safe and beautiful outcome.
How is Leg Liposuction Performed?
The thighs are undoubtedly one of the most common places where people develop stubborn fat. Although diet and exercise work, thigh fat often doesn't respond as well or as quickly as other fat cells in the body. This can be disturbing, and patients may feel self-conscious about their appearance. Femoral liposuction can help remove excess fat, make the legs slimmer and achieve more balanced proportions throughout the body.
The surgeon makes several small incisions near the treatment area when undergoing thigh liposuction. A hand-held tube called a cannula is inserted through the incisions designed to remove stubborn fat to create a thinner, smoother, and more attractive thigh shape.
Once the incisions are sutured, a compression garment is placed on the patient to reduce swelling and promote proper healing. After a short period of intensive care, the patient is discharged home to continue their recovery under the supervision of trusted family members.
What to Expect After Liposuction
Immediately after leg liposuction, patients should expect discomfort, bruising, and swelling. Compression garments and prescription medications can alleviate these symptoms, and most patients can return to light work in less than a week after surgery. However, vigorous exercise is prohibited for 4-6 weeks or until cleared by your surgeon.
This effective combination reduces swelling, bruising and overall discomfort. The shape of the thigh changes dramatically after a few days, with results improving over the following weeks and months as the remaining swelling subsides. The final results of thigh liposuction are visible within six months, although most of the node disappears much earlier.
When Can I Walk After Leg Liposuction?
During leg liposuction recovery, surgeons recommend that patients exercise as soon as possible and take short, easy walks to increase circulation. These can be short walks around the house or to and from the bathroom. If you feel better after the first few days, you can resume your normal daily activities, such as longer walks, but vigorous activity and exercise should be limited for a few weeks.
