Advantages and Disadvantages to Know Before Getting a Breast Augmentation Fat Transfer

Many women like the idea of having bigger breasts, but they aren't so fond of breast implants. The more suitable alternative, breast augmentation with fat transfer, has piqued the interest of women looking for a natural way to enhance their breast size.
A fat transfer breast enhancement involves using a woman's fat harvested from one part of her body to increase the size of her breasts. The fat is extracted with liposuction and is then reinjected into the breasts for augmentation.
About Autologous Breast Enhancements
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons did not recommend autologous breast enhancements in their early days. In 1987, they established that one of the side effects of a fat transfer to the breasts was that it could compromise cancer screening results. This led to a significant decline in the number of autologous fat transfers performed.
Nevertheless, evidence provided by the Society's Fat Graft Taskforce, a team designed to research the feasibility of fat transfer procedures, has stated there is no supportive evidence against the safety concerns of the treatment.
Surgeons nowadays use innovative technology to provide safe fat transfer breast augmentations. It is still recommended to have a mammogram before a fat-graft procedure, so make sure to follow the advice of the board-certified practitioner you choose.
Advantages Of An Autologous Breast Fat Transfer
- No foreign implants are used
- Small incisions are placed to insert the cannula
- The procedure uses your fat, which is a much safer alternative than using synthetic materials
- Your breasts will look and feel more natural
- There's a relatively low complication rate
Disadvantages Of Breast Fat Transfers
- The procedure can only enlarge breasts by one cup size
- Calcifications can be formed, interfering with screening.
- It requires a substantial amount of fat to be transferred.
- Fat necrosis could be interpreted as cancer, and the hard masses can persist for a short time or permanently.
- Fat could be reabsorbed.
Fat doesn't have its blood supply to be kept alive. The reinjected fat relies on the breast's blood supply, so only a limited amount can be injected.
When more fat is injected than can be supported, the fat will be reabsorbed by the body. If the procedure is incorrectly performed, this could result in the desired breast size not being obtained.
Additionally, the surgeon can inject too much fat that presses against the skin, which in itself could cause rippling or an uneven contour if one breast is more filled than the other.
AirSculpt® Can Resolve Improper Fat Transfers
As you can tell, a fat transfer breast enhancement offers significant benefits but requires a high level of precision to be performed correctly. Unfortunately, patients sometimes do not achieve the desired results, such as having too little fat injected or ending up with uneven breasts.
If you've undergone a botched procedure and are looking to obtain results that you've always expected, the patented AirSculpt® treatment can help.
The AirSculpt® Fat Transfer Correction is a precision-engineered process that doesn't use a scalpel, needle, stitches, or general anesthesia to fix asymmetries or deformities associated with botched breast enhancements. This technique is minimally invasive, meaning patients remain wide awake while experiencing no discomfort.
Still, our surgeons' use of the patented AirSculpt® devices ensures that your breasts are restored to the exact look you initially desired. AirSculpt® allows fat to be removed and transferred by the cell to deliver a perfectly symmetric look.
