Charlotte AirSculpt® Hand Rejuvenation Fat Transfer

Can Fat Be Transferred to the Hands to Cover Up Veins and Wrinkles?

When trying to combat the signs of aging, you shouldn't only focus on the face and the more visible areas of the body. The hands are often overlooked, and they experience the same loss in fat and collagen as the face, causing veins and tendons to be exposed.

Patients are increasingly interested in procedures such as fat grafting, dermal fillers, and laser treatments, all of which claim to help rejuvenate the hands by increasing their volume, as found in a younger person.

Although fillers say they produce significant changes, they require multiple sessions and can be pretty uncomfortable to get, not to mention results wane with time. Laser treatments can only do so much, as they operate from outside the skin and also often require several sessions.

How The Fat Transfer Procedure Works

Can fat be transferred to the hands? It can, seamlessly! With traditional liposuction techniques, used by some practices, the fat is first collected to plump up the hands. Fat is generally harvested from the hips, thighs, and stomach, but it can be taken from practically anywhere on the body that has excess fatty tissue deposits.

The procedure begins by cleansing and numbing the donor area (liposuction is sometimes done with general anesthesia as well), where a small incision is made for a cannula to be inserted.

The area is then filled with a tumescent fluid made up of saline, epinephrine, and lidocaine, causing the fat to dislodge from the skin, making it easy to remove.

Once the fat is extracted, the donor area is bandaged and wrapped in compression garments to reduce swelling and bruising.

The collected fat is then purified and inserted into a needle to be injected and distributed throughout the hand. It's common practice to overfill the hand with fat, given that the body reabsorbs about 50% of it.

Elite Body Sculpture's Process Is Best in Charlotte

Elite Body Sculpture's new Charlotte office offers a superior procedure in the form of the AirSculpt® Hand Rejuvenation Fat Transfer.

This minimally invasive procedure doesn't use a scalpel, needle, stitches, or general anesthesia, which allows for a more comfortable and safer fat transfer process.

Using our patented AirSculpt® cannula allows patients to stop worrying about hand veins and wrinkles without settling for invasive, traditional liposuction that has its risks and potential complications. Patients stay awake to see their fat removed from any trouble area, whether it's the chin, thighs, or waist!

Because of AirSculpt's robotic, plucking-like motion used to remove fat, transferring it to the hands can be done with similarly enhanced finesse. The improved control our surgeons enjoy over traditional liposuction-based tools is critical when sculpting a delicate area like the hands.
