Everything Patients Considering Abdominal Etching Should Know

What is Abdominal Etching?

Abdominal etching is a form of liposuction. Liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in the US, with more than a quarter of a million liposuction procedures performed in 2018.

As with traditional liposuction, abdominal etching uses a suction technique to remove fat deposits under the skin. The main difference compared to other stomach liposuction surgeries is its intended results.

Rather than removing fat from the midsection to look slimmer overall, abdominal etching involves removing fat deposits in a sophisticated and strategic manner. This type of liposuction shapes and contours the stomach region to make the abdominal muscles appear more pronounced.

How Does Abdominal Etching Work?

Abdominal etching works the same way as traditional liposuction, but there is an essential difference between the two. The fat deposits that cover the abdominal muscles are carefully removed from the body through small incisions, usually made around the navel.

If performed carefully, this technique can deepen the natural grooves on one's body and make the abs look much more pronounced.

Fat deposits can also be removed on the sides above the oblique abdominal muscles to contour 360 degrees around the belly. Patients will see a visibly tighter midsection as the swelling subsides and the area heals.

Risks and Side Effects

The most common side effects after a liposuction procedure include:

  1. Damage to nerves and blood vessels.
  2. Discoloration of the skin
  3. Bumpy skin or uneven scarring
  4. Swelling
  5. Fluid retention
  6. Bruising or headaches due to the anesthesia

You may also notice pus or discharge at the site of the procedure. If the pus is green or yellowish, contact your doctor.

Fever in the days after an invasive fat removal surgery can also be a sign of infection. Tell your doctor about these side effects and seek medical attention immediately if you suspect you have an infection.

How The 48-Hour Six Pack™ Compares With Abdominal Etching

Their 48-Hour Six Pack™, which uses patented AirSculpt technology, is the optimal procedure to reveal one's toned abdominal muscles. It doesn't resort to fully invasive surgical techniques like traditional lipo, and it comes with a much shorter downtime than more invasive surgeries.

The 48-Hour Six Pack™ delivers a sculpted midsection without scalpels, stitches, needles, or general anesthesia, allowing for a more comfortable and precise experience.

This procedure is less invasive and gives surgeons unmatched precision when targeting and removing the fat concealing one's stomach muscles. This enhanced finesse throughout the sculpting process is a critical distinction that makes AirSculpt the best option for sculpting tricky areas like the region between the abs.
