Tips For Ensuring Smooth BBL Results and Recovery

Those considering buttock augmentation surgery, precisely that of a Brazilian butt lift (BBL), have likely heard plenty of confusing advice about what happens after surgery.

You've heard how much time you're allowed to sit and when you'll be able to return to work. While the jumble of information could be daunting initially, the recovery process is quite straightforward.

Believe it or not, the recovery for a BBL isn't as complicated as it is put out to be. It's all about consistency and following a few rules to get optimal results.

To simplify what we're going to learn, view your butt augmentation recovery in two phases: healing and maintenance. Knowing your stage will allow you to make better choices to ensure a speedy recovery.

What's most important at the moment is that the key to a healthy recovery is patience. Recovery doesn't happen in as little as a week, and you won't be able to go from lying down to running laps right away. That said, with AirSculpt, your downtime will only last up to two days.

The best possible outcome for your Brazilian butt lift begins with your choice of physician. Always opt for the experience of a licensed plastic surgeon as a start. Don't be fooled by lower prices; pick the more qualified surgeon for the job, such as those at Elite Body Sculpture.

Recovery from a Brazilian butt lift isn't an easy task, but with the right plan, you'll be experiencing ideal results in no time.

It Starts With Understanding Fat

Many myths and speculations are unfortunately commonplace when it comes to how fat works.

We don't technically "burn" away fat cells, as many people may think; what happens is that our bodies consume the fat stored within the cells, causing them to shrink as we lose weight.

The number of fat cells within our bodies stays relatively consistent while their size may fluctuate. If you lose weight, the cells shrink; if you gain, they grow larger.

A Brazilian butt lift is designed to move these fat cells from one part of your body to another. When the fat is transferred from a donor site, that area experiences a permanent reduction of fat cells, and the butt is permanently enhanced. Over an extended period, the butt may lose volume, but skilled surgeons will be able to account for this.

Fat Cell Survival

Before your surgery, your doctor will find the best places on your body to harvest fat.

The fat is then removed via liposuction and is treated to remove any impurities and reduce the risk of infection. Essentially, the more fat cells survive, the better your buttocks look. Once again, skilled surgeons will account for the natural reabsorption process.

The Recovery Process: Weeks 1 to 3

In the first week of healing following a traditional fat transfer BBL, your goal is to avoid moving or exposing your buttocks to pressure. Therefore, avoid sitting or lying on your back during this period, and use any cushion pillow your practice provides. These are always given to patients after an AirSculpt BBL.

The newly transferred fat cells are trying to establish their blood flow during this initial period. To aid in this process, your surgeon should administer specialized garments to assist with healing – these are complementary at Elite Body Sculpture.

After the surgery, most patients have a certain amount of swelling, but you will notice a decrease in size as it subsides. That's because about 30 to 40 percent of transplanted cells will not survive, even if you follow a perfect recovery process. Your surgeon should have previously accounted for this by overfilling the area to ensure the desired results.

Also, begin doing light walking to stimulate blood circulation to aid in fat cell survival. After AirSculpt, patients are instructed to take 30-minute walks as soon as they can after treatment. Thanks to the delicate nature of this BBL technique, most return to work within two days.

The Recovery Process: Week 4 and Beyond

Between the third and fourth week, you'll be able to go back to work after a traditional BBL. Your doctor will give you clearance on this matter. After AirSculpt transfers, once again, most patients only require a couple of days of downtime.

If you work where sitting is required, you'll have to use a unique pillow designed to minimize the pressure on your buttocks.

Around the fourth week, you can begin intensifying your workouts after buttock augmentation. Start with weight training that doesn't target the buttocks, though.

As time progresses, you can begin blending in cardio. Yet, you'll still need to minimize movement around your buttocks to prevent the fat cells from shrinking. Most AirSculpt patients can start to reincorporate intense workouts after about two weeks but should get clearance first to be safe.

After the sixth week, you can progress to glute-focused exercises, such as squats, lunges, and other movements. Don't worry about fat loss here. After a fat transfer to the buttocks, this will aid in building muscle and toning the area.
