Lower Ab Workouts For Men: What You Should Be Doing

Although most don't want to hear this, it can be challenging to target a specific part of the abdomen with strength exercises. The whole region should be trained throughout, even if one is looking only to target a pooch of lower belly fat.
Nevertheless, you can control the contraction of different areas' muscles by working in specific directions and using certain areas more than others.
Before we dive into all of that, it's essential to understand how to make sure those abs appear.
Ab Exercises Won't Make Your Abs Visible
Let's say that you strengthen your core and develop your abdominal muscles, but you still have a substantial amount of fat covering the rectus abdominis. That's the case for many people that go to the gym and do the exercises, but the coveted six-pack still won't appear.
That's why we should clear up another misconception. Ab exercises do not burn fat, and they never will. The only way you can burn fat is by going at it in a full-body approach, which is usually obtainable with cardio. You can also lose fat by dieting with a caloric deficit.
Caloric Deficits Are Essential
Dieting is usually a concept that is entirely misunderstood as well. People believe eating less is the rule that must be followed when it's far from the truth.
If you want to diet to lose fat properly, the objective should be to eat fewer calories. We didn't say less food; we said fewer calories. You can do this by eating less calorie-dense foods or consuming fat-free alternatives that taste just as good but are healthier for you in the long term.
A pound of fat equals 3500 calories. Therefore if you eat 500 fewer calories per day than what's needed to maintain your current weight, you will lose about a pound of fat per week. Of course, this can vary on a case-by-case basis.
Nutritional standards suggest that you only burn up to two pounds per day; any more could severely cause a toll on the human body.
Male Lower Ab Workouts
Once you've progressively lost the excess pounds by burning fat, doing abdominal exercises can make your goal of a six-pack become a reality.
Here's a sample six-minute routine that will strengthen your core and develop the abdominal muscles to provide you with the desired aesthetic.
- Figure 8's for 30 seconds
- Hands Back Raise for 30 seconds
- Twisted Pistons for 60 seconds
- Seated Ab Circles (Clockwise) for 60 seconds
- Seated Ab Circles (Counter Clockwise) for 60 seconds
- Scissor V Ups for 30 seconds
- "21" Crunch for 30 seconds
This lower abdominal workout should be done daily, proving that a small investment of time can go a long way if you're consistent.
These don't have to be done in exact order and can be replaced by other exercises. The focus should be on consistency, form, and constantly flexing the abs throughout the workout to fully reveal their definition.
