Tips and Pointers to Minimize Post-Mommy Makeover Bruising

Mommy makeover surgeries are a combination of procedures designed to treat several areas of the body affected by pregnancy. These areas are often the breasts, abdomen, pubic region, buttocks, and lower body overall.
A mommy makeover typically features one or more of the following: breast augmentation, breast lift, tummy tuck, and liposuction on affected areas, depending on your specific necessities.
These multiple treatments are performed simultaneously, meaning the recovery period may be slightly longer for traditional mommy makeovers than for individual procedures. Therefore, you must be fully aware of the recovery process you will have to endure to get a clear idea of what exactly to expect and give ample time to make the necessary adjustments.
Some of the most common downsides of traditional mommy makeovers are significant bruising and swelling. These effects are a part of your body's natural response to trauma.
How Can I Reduce Swelling and Bruising?
A few manners in which you can reduce swelling and bruising post-mommy makeover surgery during the post-operation phase are:
1. Avoiding Nicotine Consumption
The importance of not smoking cannot be understated. You should stay clear of nicotine for several weeks before and after surgery. Smoking slows down the rate at which your body heals, making swelling and bruising persist for much longer.
The goal is to ensure that your body heals as efficiently as possible, so you can enjoy the contours of your new body while not extending the recovery process.
2. Ensure That Your Dressings Remain Dry
You will be given instructions on how to care for your entry site and any bandages post-procedure. Following these instructions will ensure that your incisions do not become infected and your swelling doesn't worsen.
Ideally, you'll always want to keep your wounds clean and dry. If you're administered topical ointments or medications, use them accordingly per your surgeons' instructions. Proper wound healing will help significantly minimize swelling and bruising.
3. Wear Your Compression Garments
After any mommy makeover, you will have to wear compression garments. Depending on your surgeries, you must purchase a compression bra, undergarments, a tummy binder, or other clothes. Body contouring providers like Elite Body Sculpture provide complimentarily compression garments for their patients.
While a surgeon's recommendation can vary, it's generally recommended that you wear the compression garments 24/7, even when sleeping for about three weeks after the surgery, as you can hear renowned cosmetic surgeon and AirSculpt inventor Dr. Aaron Rollins detail in the video above.
A compression garment minimizes swelling and can make the recovery process much more efficient.
Work With the AirSculpt® Mommy Makeover
One of the ways patients can ensure that they don't have to deal with major swelling through these multiple procedures is with the AirSculpt® Mommy Makeover.
Unlike traditional mommy makeovers, AirSculpt® does not use scalpels, stitches, needles, or general anesthesia, which significantly minimizes the formation of bruising and swelling due to using less invasive techniques.
For instance, instead of a scalpel, we use a perfectly symmetrical two-millimeter opening to form the entry point from which fat can be extracted. The biopsy punch also adds the benefit of not creating linear scarring and omitting the need for stitches.
Most AirSculpt patients receive abdominal fat removal, pubic fat removal, a stomach tightening treatment, and all-natural breast enhancement for their makeover. However, your custom mommy makeover can include any AirSculpt body contouring procedure.
Swelling and bruising are also minimized because of the AirSculpt® cannula. It uses a mechanical motion that cycles rapidly, making fat removal much more delicate, like removing grapes off a vine, further reducing the chances of excessive swelling or bruising.
