Cankle Fat Removal With AirSculpt®: What To Look For In Results

Having poorly defined ankles that lack an aesthetic, slim contour can make the transition between the calf and the foot practically indistinguishable.
When the contour of the calf and foot are uniform, it's commonly referred to as a cankle, which is a body phenomenon that tends to make men and women who have it self-conscious.
The main issue with having cankles is that it's not entirely an issue related to having excess fat or living an unhealthy lifestyle. People that are fit or well within their healthy weight can have cankles due to their genetics determining their muscle and bone structure.
Patients interested in correcting this aesthetic issue generally have to resort to cosmetic procedures such as traditional liposuction for their cankle surgery.
Defining Traditional Cankle Liposuction
Calf and ankle liposuction begins with the treated area being anesthetized. Some practices even use general anesthesia to put the patient asleep, but more modern approaches should be able to get the job done with only local anesthesia.
Once numbed, a surgeon will place tiny incisions on the calf and ankle, through which the fat will be broken up and aspirated with a cannula.
Once the necessary amount of fat has been removed, your surgeon will close the openings with stitches and apply sterile dressings followed by bandages. Given the minimal surface area being treated, you can go home with a responsible adult or caregiver to check up on you for the first 24 hours post-procedure.
A Less Invasive Solution: The AirSculpt® CankCüre™
What AirSculpt® aims to achieve with cankle fat reduction is to sculpt the ankle with a contour that goes from the calf to the foot, providing a tapered, more aesthetic appearance. Rudimentary liposuction approaches have difficulties achieving this aim due to their imprecise instrumentation, which often requires surgeons to guess how much fat is being removed manually.
Another core benefit of the AirSculpt® CankCüre™ is that the procedure is performed on patients while awake, given that we do not use general anesthesia.
While traditional cankle liposuction focuses more on removing fat, AirSculpt® CankCüre™ is designed to create a gradual contour down to the ankle, making results look more genuine and natural. It's not always about bluntly removing as much fat as possible but strategically targeting the fat that causes an unnatural appearance. Our use of automated technology that removes cankle fat cells one by one makes this endeavor all the more possible with AirSculpt®.
Furthermore, skilled surgeons should be able to sculpt both the inside and outside of the lower leg region. Many wrongly focus on the inside of the leg, but both sides should be treated all the way down to the ankle bone to deliver a gradually narrowing look.
The benefits do not end there because instead of using a linear scalpel cut, we use a biopsy punch to form a perfectly symmetrical two-millimeter opening from which the fat is extracted. The procedure doesn't use stitches because the tiny opening is naturally left to heal, leaving a mark the size of a freckle, meaning there will be no scarring around your calf or ankle as well.
As mentioned earlier, the patented AirSculpt® cannula also has the benefit of precisely extracting fat cell-by-cell, allowing a more accurate contouring experience and protecting the surrounding tissues to minimize bruising and swelling.
This is why our AirSculpt® procedure has patients walking out with defined ankles immediately after leaving the operating room, with a downtime of only 48 hours before returning to their busy schedules.
AirSculpt® procedures are designed to provide outstanding results without invasive surgical techniques, delivering a luxurious and comfortable experience for all our patients.
